Luke 9:49-50:
49John spoke up, "Master, we saw a man using your name to expel demons and we stopped him because he wasn't of our group."
50Jesus said, "Don't stop him. If he's not an enemy, he's an ally." (The Message)
"A beautiful ecumenical gesture here. Anyone--regardless of denominational label or theological stance, whether self-righteous, theatrical, pompous, doctrinaire, tract-ridden, whether a fundamentalist or a Bible banger--who invokes the name of Jesus reverently is to be accepted as a brother or sister in the Lord. Cultural baggage not withstanding, the person is saying, "I'm on your side." Ouch!"
